D100: XLR v RCA outputs

In your opinion is there any sound difference between a D100 with XLR outputs compared to a unit with RCA ones?

Hi, Chris. There is no sound difference between a unit with XLR or RCA outputs. The internal circuitry and wiring is the same up until the output jack. Using an XLR unit with an XLR->RCA cable creates the same circuit as an RCA unit, except for a difference in wire lengths and the connection to ground happening outside of the box versus inside of the box.
